Parents often have many apprehensions about letting their teens out on the road. Of course, once their teens are licensed, parents cannot control what their children do behind the wheel. Sadly, it is not uncommon for teen drivers to cause serious accidents that have tragic outcomes.

It was recently reported that an accident in North Carolina claimed the life of one teen and seriously injured multiple others. Apparently, a 17-year-old girl was driving a vehicle when she failed to maintain control. As a result, the vehicle crossed a median and overturned. The report indicated that the driver was the only occupant wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, and there were at least four other passengers inside.

The incident had the following outcomes:

  • An 18-year-old male was ejected from the vehicle when it overturned. He suffered fatal injuries.
  • Another teen, whose age was not provided, was also thrown from the vehicle and was reported as being in critical condition.
  • Two other teens suffered significant injuries.
  • The driver was not seriously hurt in the incident.

The families of the teens involved in this accident are undoubtedly shaken by the event. The tragic outcomes that have resulted may affect these individuals for an extended period of time. The family of the teen killed in this incident and the parents of those seriously injured may have reason to take legal action against the parties considered liable in this incident. Wrongful death and personal injury claims could provide them the opportunity to seek compensation for damages permitted under North Carolina law.
